The most exciting phrase to hear in science, the one that heralds new discoveries, is not “Eureka!” (I found it!) but “That’s funny …”
— Isaac Asimov
Isn’t that the same with interpretation and our walk with God in general? Sometimes everything we do, hear or say makes perfect sense. Once in a while though, we stumble upon something that makes us say, “That’s funny” or “That’s weird.” No one could fault us for sweeping things under the rug, but when we dig a little deeper to see what is hidden underneath, it’s usually deeper insight, greater understanding, and fresher revelation that we end up finding. What is it that Proverbs 25:2 say?
It is the glory of God to conceal a matter, but the glory of kings is to search out a matter.
